Weather Stations

Wroot Water uses Metos weather stations and we have been working with them for the last 10 years. Our aim is to provide our customers with a reliable and effective weather station that will yield top quality produce through provision and efficiency.

Metos provide an economical and effective recording device to monitor weather parameters and soil moisture levels whilst automatically reporting and recording to a web based platform. This cuts down on valuable time which can be lost manually downloading stand-alone devices. The modern grower has to justify and maximise inputs whilst being proactive rather than reactive to maximise efficiency productivity and environmental awareness. To match these criteria the grower must be informed of the crops’ condition and environmental requirements.

By having the ability to forecast events, the grower can make informed decisions about the crop’s quality, yield and profitability. The weather monitoring equipment is GPRS based and automatic download can take place several times a day to keep data sets upto date.

Real time data from the internet can be used for:

  • Irrigation management
  • Soil moisture monitoring
  • Disease forecasting
  • Frost warning
  • Work planning and logistics
  • Local micro climate monitoring

Options include:

  • Soil temperature
  • Soil humidity
  • Temperature relative humidity
  • Global radiation
  • Rainfall leaf wetness
  • Wind strength & direction
  • Barometric pressure

We are able to monitor the environment and the soil by strategically placing stations that are able to log data at set intervals. This data can then be downloaded on to a central server where the information can be browsed through the internet.
