Landfill Leachate

Landfill Leachate is usually described as rainwater that has been in contact with waste stored in landfill.

On many landfill sites throughout the country there is an ongoing problem of leachate water being produced even after waste cells have been capped. Over the last 15 years Wroot Water have been involved with ADAS and an effective solution to dispose of leachate sustainably, economically and in an environmentally friendly way has been created.

The method we use requires two large lagoons to collect the leachate. When the leachate has been in the lagoons for a period of time at a particular temperature, the condition of the leachate becomes such that we can use it for Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) and the SRC can be used for wood chip.

The method has been adopted by several waste companies as a cost effective way of dealing with leachate. At Wroot Water we are able to design bespoke automated systems for specific sites.
